みなさん、

おはようございます。

このテストを受けたら、自分の会話の能力が理解できます。
————————————-
Dear all,

Good morning.

This is an announcement.

For those students who are taking class under me and J, they will be able to take JSST, in additional to the normal conversation test conducted by Japanese natives. We will be paying for the students.

If you take this test, you will be able to find out your own speaking level————————————-

Some questions that they will ask in JSST:

1) Describe one of your colleagues at work

2) Compare the good and bad points of using credit card

3) The account manager of a customer has been changed to you. Using Keigo, please call the customer and introduce yourself.

4) Have you been to Japan? If no, which part of Japan would you like to go and why.

Improving your accent Part 1

みなさん、

こんばんは。

Earlier on, i was looking through one of the Japanese learner’s blog that i have been following.

http://creativityjapanese.wordpress.com

and realize that quite a lot of Japanese learners have this problem of pronouncing the words correctly.

As such, i hope that this post can help you to improve your accent.

In different parts of Japan, Japanese people speak different accents. In Japan, the one is mainly used is the Tokyo accent or what we call 標準語(Hyou jyun go)There are generally 4 types of styles of the 標準語.

A mora in short, is 1 hiragana character.

accent2

There are 4 rules that you need to know

1) If the 1st mora is low, the second mora will definitely be high

2) If the 1st mora is high, the second mora will definitely be low.

3) Once low, never high (e.g you will not have てんき (High-Low-High) till the next character

4) High-Low and Low-High will have different meanings (e.g はし (chopsticks/High-Low) and はし (bridge/Low-High-Low)

This was one of my questions that came out during the teaching course.

(Good evening everyone. Today, i would like to answer a doubt that many of you will have)

「とんでもない」と「どういたしまして」はどう違いますか。
(What’s the difference b/w とんでもない and どういたしまして
中国語で説明したら、すごく簡単です。  英語しかできない方はごめんなさい。
(if i explain in Chinese, it’s super easy). Apologies to those who only know English.

「とんでもない」=「出乎意料」・「哪而的话」・「荒唐」 / Nothing of that sort! /Absurb! / 程度や常識を超えているさま。思いもかけない。とうほうもない。 相手の言葉を強く否定します (deny the other party’s words strongly)

「どういたしまして」=「不客气,不用谢」 / You are welcome! /相手のお礼や詫びの言葉に対して、それをおだやかに打ち消していう挨拶の言葉 (Use どういたしまして to deny the words of thanks/apology of the other party gently)
例:

「とんでもない」
「ありがとうございます」「いや、とんでもない」

「立派(りっぱ)なお宅ですね」「いえいえ、とんでもないことでございます」 / “You have a wonderful house” ——“Oh no, it’s nothing of the sort”

彼が犯人(はんにん)なんてとんでもない。 / Him the criminal? Impossible

「どういたしまして」
あっ、すみません。どうも。いいえ、どういたしまして。

「ありがとうございました」「いいえ、どういたしまして」

会話の能力アップ1:歌を歌いましょう (Raising your level of conversation: Let’s sing)

======================================================
Good evening everyone,

Today i’ll like to tell you about some points on how you can raise your level of conversation.
To me, songs are conversations between people.
Try to sing 20-30 times, if you practise for 1 year, you will become good in your conversation.
This was how i came to practise.I can’t say that my conversation skills are good, but during business situations, i can communicate.
And to be told by Japanese that my Keigo is good, it’s my pride.

Today’s song is Takasugi Satomi’s Hyakurenka (The song of hundred loves). Do try to sing it.
Have a good weekend!
